Pointed Typeface

Building a modular typeface is one exercise to really understand the letterform. For this typeface I utilized parts of street signs I saw on Commonwealth Ave just outside the graduate studio. Breaking these arrows into parts, I crafted the letterforms that took on an aesthetic beyond just arrows and became a pointed and sharp typeface with an eerie quality to it.
This project utilized forms of place to create something new. Utilizing and adapting forms found in place this project also examines how when taken out of context and re-imagined, place forms can create different references that are not of the original form or place.
